BA Forensic Tests on Aircraft

British Airways has been advised that three of its Boeing 767 short haul aircraft have been identified by the UK government as part of the police investigation into the death of Alexander Litvinenko.

The initial results of the forensic tests have shown very low traces of a radioactive substance onboard two of the three aircraft.  The third aircraft remains in Moscow awaiting the necessary clearance to return to the UK.  British Airways understands from advice it has been given that the risk to public health is low.

BA Check-in Options

BA have implemented some changes to the check-in procedure in order to create the best possible airport experience for air travellers ahead of its move into Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 in 2008.  For short haul flights, if you are unable to use the Online Check-in service then please use a check-in kiosk at the airport.

Check in online - By visiting www.ba.com 24 hours before your flight departs you can check in, select your preferred seat and print your boarding card, all from the comfort of your own home. All you then need to do at the airport is to leave your luggage at a staffed Fast Bag Drop.

Check-in kiosks - If you are unable to check in online then please use one of our numerous check-in kiosks.  In total, there are now over 200 kiosks in over 50 airports. To begin your check-in all you need to do is insert your Executive Club card or a credit/debit card (for identification only) and follow the on-screen instructions. Using the touch screen you can then check in, select your seat, print your boarding pass and then go to a Fast Bag Drop to leave any luggage you may have.

Changes to BA Seating Policy

BA are introducing changes to the way you select and book seats from 05 December 2006. These changes form part of their plans to create the best possible airport experience ahead of their move into Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 in 2008.  To ensure all customers enjoy a stress-free, speedy and seamless journey through the airport, BA will be further enhancing technology, improving the terminal layout and simplifying some of their procedures over the next eighteen months. Read more..
