New Migration Path for FEP...
(New Guide Available)

Did you know FEP technology is no longer strategic?
Is your business reliant on this technology?
Do you want to reduce costs?

Amdahl no longer manufacture FEPs and IBM withdrew from the marketplace in September 2002.
But what does this mean for you?

Primarily, it means maintaining the FEP will be more expensive and eventually, impossible.   Issues will range from the now real danger of unacceptable, and potentially very costly, service disruptions caused by FEP hardware failures – especially with spares and seasoned FEP engineers becoming scarce.

The answer?  A new, scaleable solution which enables consolidation of the SNA FEP networking function onto the System z processor(s).   In March 2005, IBM announced the Communications Controller for Linux (CCL) on System z.   CCL can be seen as software FEP, virtualising the FEP functionality within System z.

There are many business benefits of considering an FEP migration, as well as an up-front reduced licence costs,  you will reap the benefits of less administration overheads and a reduced power bill.
