Making strong authentication easy . . .

If you have always thought that two-factor authentication was too complex or expensive for your company, now you can have the security you need, whatever the size of your organisation.

At Signify we are focused on doing one thing really, really well: making it  easy for all our customers to eliminate insecure passwords from their critical business systems and roll out strong authentication to their users.

"We migrated to the Signify service a couple of years ago and there have been no problems at all. It just works. It's almost embarrassing how easy it has been"  remarked Mick Gavin, IT Manager of GIST, the supply chain logistics company.

Whether you have 5, 50 or 5,000 users who need secure access to your systems, check out our website or give us a call to find out how we can make strong authentication easy for you.

Quality is key - RSA beats Vasco in token endurance tests

We are often asked why we only support RSA SecurID when there are other cheaper tokens on the market. Our answer is simply that "You get what you pay for as quality will cost you less in the long run".

Now this conviction has been borne out by an independent test lab who ran a series of endurance tests to mimic the stresses that the typical token has to survive during its lifetime in a user's pocket. They compared RSA SecurID SID 700 tokens against Vasco's GO-3 tokens for durability and reliability in 8 separate tests which include immersion, being dropped onto concrete and being run over by a pick-up truck!

You can read the full test lab report here: but in short, RSA SecurID passed all the tests without a single failure, whereas the cheaper token failed in 6 out of the 8 tests. Buying quality really does save you money in the long run.

"Cheaper tokens may suit lightweight, consumer applications such as on-line banking where the token typically stays in the user's desk drawer for its entire life." comments John Stewart, CEO of Signify.

"However at Signify we are supporting our clients' busy executives and engineers who need to log in 24x7 to get their work done from all sorts of locations. User downtime is unacceptable and we know from experience that RSA SecurID is the only token tough enough to survive on the user frontline: in their pocket! Buying anything cheaper really is a false economy."          Read the full report here

Case study: Signify secures pharmaceutical Extranet

Pharmorphix is one of Europe's leading providers of R&D services to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. The company handles extremely sensitive intellectual property, raw data and test results, and produces highly confidential reports for its clients about the drugs that they have under development.

Rich King, IT Manager at Pharmorphix, explained: "It is almost impossible to overstate the sensitivity and confidentiality of the data that we receive from clients, and the results, reports and recommendations that we produce.

On the one hand, we have to guarantee that this information will be totally secure; on the other hand we have to ensure that the client can access this information through our Extranet from anywhere in the world, day and night."

Knowing that secure user authentication would be a key element of the Extranet service, and recognizing that in-house systems are time consuming and complex to implement and require 24x7 hour support, Rich was keen to out-task the operations to a specialist service provider.

"We didn't want the costs and headaches of running this service in house and I was already very much aware of Signify's expertise and track-record in this field," Rich explained.

Today, Signify strong authentication is used both by Pharmorphix clients for Extranet access and also by staff to access their email, applications and data remotely.

"We need a service that is based upon the highest standards of security and authentication, but which is easy to use and is utterly reliable," concluded Rich King. "I'm delighted to say that Signify continue to deliver superbly on all these fronts. A service I could recommend to anyone"

Signify hits 5 millionth authentication!

Our service reached a major milestone in February when it handled the 5,000,000th authentication request from our users.

"We are seeing rapid growth both in the size of our customer base and also the frequency with which their users log in with their secure Signify identity." comments Chris Jenkins-Powell, Signify Marketing Manager.

Website launch raises cash for Cancer Relief

Our new website launch in January was very well received.

We promised to make a donation to Cancer Research for every visit to the site following the launch, and we are proud to report that a cheque for £528 was sent to the charity during March.

Thank you to everyone who supported us to make our launch such a success.
