Marine derived glycosaminoglycans for drug discovery and research

GlycoMar is continually exploring new structural and functional properties of marine GAGs to develop their potential in drug discovery and research.

Marine GAGs offer a unique chemical diversity which have been shown to have anti-coagulant, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, and anti-proliferative properties.

Studies so far show >10% hit rate of compounds which can be progressed into early clinical trials.

Products

Marine Glycomolecule Library

Currently 60 novel glycomolecules isolated from a wide range of phyla / organisms available as a dereplicated library which is continually expanding.

The library contains both O-linked glycans and GAGs. These include heparin/ heparan sulphates, dermatan/ chondriotin sulphates.

Available as purified molecules, up to several tens of grams which have been pre-screened for toxicity.

GlycoMar is committed to working with species obtained from sustainable sources which are identified as being a good source of novel bioactive molecules.

Services

Isolation of novel marine glycomolecules

Native molecules or derivatives can be created by chemical or enzymatic depolymerization and purified by biochemical and chromatographic methods.

Characterization of marine glycomolecules

Can be achieved by analytical chromatography, monosaccharide analysis or NMR.
