REGULATORY UPDATE: New Head of OFCOM Spectrum, Simplifying spectrum trading

Historically recessions have been a time when the pecking order of companies in many fields has changed and sticking to the status quo cannot guarantee success.

Communication solutions can help companies save money, better utilise resources and speed up cashflow

Well, the economy remains a popular topic of conversation and many still ask; 'Is the recession over?' It seems to depend where you are. Outside the UK recovery seems to be taking a tentative hold. However, at home, the latest figures showed the UK economy contracted a further 0.4% between July and September catching out many analysts and economists who'd predicted a small rise.

Although harsh, recessions are an important time to learn and make changes. They shake up markets, create opportunities, reward strengths and expose weaknesses.

At AirRadio we are seeing our customers embrace communication solutions to help their businesses. Whether by improving the productivity of their resources, enhancing response to SLAs or cutting cost in other areas, communications are helping to provide a competitive advantage. The use of a vehicle location solution avoids duplicate journeys, can lower insurance premiums and provides reports confirming adherence to SLAs. Task allocation software, delivered over ruggedised terminals, allows work to be quickly disseminated and customers to confirm job closure; speeding up job completion and invoicing. The introduction of wireless headsets has removed cable repair costs and enabled savings in manpower allocation whilst observing Health and Safety requirements.

All of these examples and others AirRadio can provide are helping our customers save money, better utilise resources and speed up cash flow. All valuable measures to any business whether in good times or bad.

As always I hope you find this edition of AirTime of interest and I'd be pleased to hear feedback on any of the articles or how we could assist your organisation.

OCS deploy radios to for Heathrow T5 Aircraft Appearance Team

OCS, OneCompleteSolution, providers of Ground Support Services

OCS - one complete solution - providers of catering, cleaning, security and passenger services to the air transport industry, has recently won an aircraft appearance contract at Heathrow Terminal 5.

The appearance team will ensure aircraft are stocked and prepared with amenities such as cushions, headsets and comfort bags ready for their onward journey.

To enable effective communications across the team OCS has added 21 radio's to AirRadio's London Heathrow community trunk network.

The radio's will be deployed to operations staff and management - who will be able to listen to communications to ensure any issues can be identified at the earliest stage to minimise any impact on aircraft turnaround times.

DECT Wireless Headsets for Operations on the RampWireless Headsets provide duplex communication between a ground vehicle driver and the operator in the basket.  Hands-free means staff can communicate without having to press buttons with no need for loud speakers systems or open microphones on the ramp.  The key benefit for activities such as de-icing is the operators' freedom of movement in the basket.  The risk of accidents and or damage to the aircraft or actual equipment is also significantly reduced.
