UK Email Marketing

Email misuse reaches the nation on BBC Watchdog!
(11 January 2006) Viewers of BBC Watchdog saw Nicky Campbell set upon yet another business bad boy. Media Logistics (UK) Ltd were pushed into the headlights after they were successfully sued for sending junk mail to Channel Island businessman Nigel Roberts. Mr Roberts said he was pleased with the result and has since launched his own website, which includes lots of helpful advice and tips for those who are bombarded by unwanted email. The site even sports a copy of a cheque for £300.00 paid to Mr Roberts by the defeated Media Logistics (UK) Ltd.
Robert Driskovski of the Direct Marketing Association suggested that on this occasion, Media Logistics (UK) Ltd had made a mistake. He also said that the majority of Spam email is sent by a handful of international rogues and that these companies were at the heart of our current problems.
You may have visions of email marketers sat crying into their TV dinners. I suggest this probably wasn't the case. In fact, I expect that many of them jumped for joy and were happy to see their plight finally taking centre stage. This is the professional email marketers dream.
Reputable email marketing firms go to great lengths to ensure that the data they and their customers use is 100% opt-in. This means the recipients have specifically requested to receive the communication from the sender. UK firms, such as ourselves, are working alongside people like Nigel Roberts to stop the "bad practice" of sending unsolicited email and we all welcome your support in promoting professional and lawful email marketing.
